Re: Deck Organisers 0n a 26M
When I have guests aboard, I throw the foresail sheets down beside the ladder. I have to find something for the main sheet though. I fix the halyard and furler on to the lifelines forward of the midships shanchion ( I am thinking of a bag on the lifewlines in the same place ). I shall see after some...

Hi Steven,
I have found that I get bit in the nethers when I least expect it.
Hope your record holds.

Yeah Russ,
The styrofoam proved a bit more work than I originally thought it would be.
But it is now history
, and all is well in the world.

Re: Mast Anchor Light Installation
In a "special anchorage" , boats under 30 feet are not required to show an anchor light. In a 'general anchorage', they are. I made a gaff and fished out the 3" pieces of styrofoam, sometimes one, sometimes two , at a time. As I got deeper into the mast I had to change the design of t...

Re: How to upgrade to LED cabin lights ?
Just an FYI. I haven't read all the replies ( as there is a great deal of redundance and I have a short attention span ) so it may have already been noted. "The indicator lights for the power switches on my "M" each draw approximately 220ma. " so , if you have an anchor light or ...

Re: 26M to cross Indian Ocean without assistance
I bought a new 26M last September. I found the support ( even on a new one ) so bad, that I gave up on it. It was easier for me to fix the problems than have the factory explain how to or send the proper equipment. I won't deal with them. I also recommend to people to buy aa used MacGregor vice a ne...

Re: Ballast valve gasket change out???
Just an FYI on the WD40.
It is great to clean out and get things moving.
But it needs to be backed up by lubricating grease or oil.
Else it will dry out and after it has cleaned the original lubrication, things will stick.

Re: thinking about towing mac with 2006 hyundai tuscon
My trailer weighs in at 500 pounds. My boat and motor ( 26M, 60hp etech ) weigh in at around 3400 pounds. Together around 2 ton. I have opted to have a minimum of 25% safety , ( minimum 5000 pound rating ) so I went with 6500 pound capabilities and don't think about it any more. It has to do with mo...

Re: Why the factory trailer lights stink
I changed my trailer lights to LEDs. Less current means less loss in the connections. "I" squared "R" loss causes heat , which quickens the oxidation of the contacts. The filaments in the incondesant lamps suffer from road shock much more than the diodes in the LEDs , also, the l...

Re: fitting a skeg to an M26
When I leave the dock and return, I use my depth finder to alert me where The bottom is and adjust the board when needed. When I put the boat on ( and take her off of ) the trailer , I handle her instead of motoring her. I've been in 2 ft of water and pulled her out. Good luck with whatever you deci...

Re: What is so bad about these boats???
I enjoy my 26M , "Precious Day". I purchased her last fall and have put her into the water dozens of times since. She is easy to singlehand, and easier with a mate. I am adding transom corner seats to allow more room and fishing off the stern. I have been sailing on the Long Island Sound a...
