Re: Tandem Axles Different lengths???

Might be able to shed some light on this subject.............. I wanted to replace my OEM axle with a 4500 pound rated axle, with 15" wheels and electric brakes. The trailer shop I went to took the measurements I had and did some checking. I forget the exact numbers, but the distance from the h...

Re: Testing Judy B Sails

Bought a new main from Judy several years ago. She learned what I wanted/needed, and provided it at a reasonable price.

She went out on our X in AZ to see how it handled with the old sail. Great lady.

Re: Lost key - sell boat?

Be cautious taking the switch out. My switch went bad, so I ordered a new one. Seemed a piece of cake to replace it. Taking the remote box apart was easy--replacing the switch was easy--trying to fit it all back together was a MESS for me. Of course, my motor parts book only showed the remote box as...

Re: how high is the mast support

Be careful of taller mast height at the rear. My 2002X is right at the facia board height if I back into my driveway. Other critical area is the car wash I take the boat to. The end of the mast just barely clears the doorway! Any higher and it wouldn't fit.

Re: Forestay wire and furling advice needed

I would call Blue Water Yachts in Seattle and ask them the price of new. I wouldn't personally take a chance on swaging my own forestay--lots of potential downside if it fails. On my X, since I have a furler, I use the jib halyard and secure it to the bow pulpit where the base of the mast bolt goes ...

My OEM main had a bolt rope through the boom. Replacement sail was loose footed.

Re: How to prevent sail from sliding out when lowering?

Be very CAREFUL! Sail stops like to jump out of your hand while you are moving them. They take two quick bounces off the deck, and SPLASH. :x :x :x :x :x I got tired of buying them, so I used a short piece of electrical wire and a crimp connection. placed the crimp connector below the knurled knob, ...

Re: Removing silt from my slip.

Not to be a naysayer, but anytime you think about moving silt or water from one place to another, you might trigger investigations by state and/or federal bureaucracies. Lot of stories locally over time about guys who dam up a stream or dig a pond on THEIR property without permits. If they are lucky...

Re: Is the difference between 40/50hp negligible or signific

Unless top speed at WOT is important to you, probably not a big deal. A number of X's have 10-40 HP engines and do fine. I have heard (and you'd need to check it out for yourself) that some of the mfgers use the same engine for 40, 50, or 60 and adjust the motor to obtain the specific HP. A check of...

Re: CL scammer useing a members boats/pics

I've seen on some sites that sell farm tractors, the owner puts a large plaque in the pic that has his phone number on it. Makes it harder to post the pics as their own.

Something to consider.

Re: Is there a database or sticky on yearly differences?

Tomfoolery,

Sorry, my choice of words was inappropriate. Should have said changes were 99 and later.

I believe all the 99's had the upgrades.

Thanks for clarifying.

Re: Is there a database or sticky on yearly differences?

I'll offer an abbreviated listing of what is most likely contained in the longer posts (I did scan them prior to posting this). And I can only speak to X's. Post 99 X's had improved steering (brackets, etc), Ballast vent moved from under stairs to vee berth area. Lot of pre 99s still going strong. A...

Re: Hailing Chinook

The only picture the dealer had of the control box was of it fully assembled! I found an online parts explosion of it, but it was so hard to see/understand, it was mostly worthless as well. Hey Chinook, see that you are in Leavenworth WA--we have a dear friend who owns a 'country place' north of Cas...
