They probably use it for towing ads because it's so big. It looks like it would be very heavy. I tow with a half ton Silverado and I've had people say things like "you haul that giant boat with THAT little thing?".

What kind of stereo system should we buy for our boat?

I'm finally going to break down and install a car stereo in our 2002X. I've now lost 2 boom boxes to heeling "accidents". Wifey is insisting on a dedicated sound system before we go sailing again (I'm not gonna argue). I'm going to mount 2 speakers in the V-berth and the stereo under the l...

Well, I'm a drunken sailor too, so I hope not to confuse you further. But I think it's sailboat snobbery. People with traditional sailboats look down on the 26X & M because they are motorsailors. True, they don't point as close to the wind or sail as fast as a fixed keel boat, and they don't mot...

Ideally, I'd be on the boat and watching football at the same time as I've done many times before. But givin the not sailing choice, I'd be watching football. I'm a Niners fan, arrrrghh :( , but still I can't seem to "not watch" the game.

I've never forgotten the beer. I've tried to forget kids, but they keep running behind the truck yelling "we want to go too!"

I forgot my engine key once too. Realized it after launching. Luckly the ramp wasn't busy that day so I left wifey there and drove the 60 mile round trip to get it. I keep the spare on my truck key ring now just in case.

Your "engine dealer" is correct. An 11.5" or so 10 pitch will fix you right up.

Your RPM's should be between 6000-6500 at WOT. Assuming you have a 26X, the prop that will get you right in there would be a 11.75 X 10, 3 blade. I don't know what effect a 4 blade would have, or the merits of aluminium vs stainless.

Completly by accident. I didn't know anything about sailboats other than I wanted one. My friends Mom had one for sale cheap and I bought it, turned out it was a 1986 Mac25. About 2 years later I discovered the internet, which led me to discover the 26X which I fell in love with. After 3 years of lu...

My 4-stroke has an oil filter, and I'm pretty sure about this because I just spilled oil all over my engine while changing it:)

Oil will calm the seas? Maybe I will fill my ballast tank with 5-30wt next time I go out to SF Bay. Oh wait, pollution and stuff, I better fill it with vegetable oil instead.

I see you know your fire extinguishers there Moe! Good info. I sell and recharge fire extinguishers and fire protection equipment for a living. I've found that in practice, ABC dry chem is not that much more difficult to clean up than BC. So I choose to have the added class 'A' capability on board. ...

Just mount it away from the blue hull. (The fun loving response). You won't need a magnetic compass unless you are offshore, and/or in the fog. Scrap the compass, get a GPS. If your boat moves, you'll know it. And in which direction. No corrections needed for variation and deviation. Magnetic compas...
