Re: What should I pay for a Venture 22

my $.02's worth:
In the water-fresh or salt? How long? Have you seen the bottom? Blisters?
How is the keel/keel bolt/keel cable?
Sails-inventory? Condition?
How's the standing/running rigging?
Any of these things can add up quickly and make that good buy not so good....

Re: Front Hatch - Venture 2-22

Just went and took a look at my hatch. Since it is mounted on the cabin it has a slight curve fore to aft and side to side where yours looks like it is mounted on the flat foredeck. Might still be a good starting point.

Re: Front Hatch - Venture 2-22

Are you needing just the cover? My 71 has the hatch on the cabin top right in front of the mast. I could take the measurements off it if you have to resort to making one. Might be able to make a female mold of it.....time is the only issue there.

Re: Difference between a V22 and 222

Hull numbers weren't required on the transom by law before 1977 in believe. On my 71 222 the hull number is a series of holes drilled in the wood support beneath the cockpit. Get in the cabin and face aft. Look in the space to your left (boat's starboard) just behind the keel winch, there will be a ...

Re: Difference between a V22 and 222

My hull number is 77. The previous owner rebed the windows but it had cracked. I removed the frames but could not get the glass out! I cleaned what I could inside and out and caulked as neatly as I could. Held up pretty good but the Texas sun was too much for it, I guess that will just be a yearly t...

Re: Difference between a V22 and 222

I have a 1971 Venture 222 poptop. I don't have the forward window, which is good cause the other two leak enough! I have the motor well as it is. I hate it. The 5.5hp I had couldn't be turned very far either direction plus the gas can took up too much cockpit space. I replaced it with a 40lb Minn Ko...

Here's a technical guide to what you need from Barton Marine. Harken also has a kit. I think Sailrite has a grommet kit for the main but don't quote me on that

Re: Photos and/or diagrams of Mac 22 Rigging???

I found that link on Sumner's website when I got my 222. They were quite helpful to me so I pass them on. I kept a log aand photo journal of the restoration and need to take some pics of the final product.

Re: Keel Humming

Very normal. You can let out a little more cable so the tautness is gone and the hum will disipate, but I keep mine a little tight. I use the change in audible pitch to gauge my speed.
