Re: Where is everyone?
Hi everyone. I haven't been able to login for nearly 2.5 years but I never really went away. I did keep looking at the site almost daily until it finally stopped working. I'm very glad to see it is functional again. Congratulations to everyone involved. I feel a bit like a newbie although most of it...

Re: Ever move a Mac 26x/m with a quad or ATV?
I used to use an old Polaris quad for shifting my M in and out of a storage facility. I fitted a towball to the front and back. It involved a very tight 90 deg turn and a small incline on asphalt. The quad had enough power but traction wasn't great due to the light weight of the quad.

They would have to be the worst photoshopped pix I've ever seen. Makes me wonder if they've actually built any yet.

Those vacuum pumps are brilliant for bleeding hydraulic brakes and a host of other jobs. Well worth the money. Makes bleeding brakes or flushing out the entire fluid system a breeze on your own.

Re: Still have your factory trailer? Take a good look at it!
Hi Kadet, that's what I did 2 years ago now. Used 100mm x 100mm box as it fills the channel better & went to the more easily avail in Aust & NZ standard Trojan brake cylinder & coupling. I did reuse the Mac ladder. Hot dip galv is the only way to go. Here's two photos of before the winch...

Re: Any Mac owners live near Broomall PA 19008 ??
Hi, not changing address. I have a nephew who was visiting his dad recently. I asked him to bring back some Nuglass2 which he had no problem with. I had it shipped to Broomall as requested. Looks like his dad has convinced him that he'd be arrested trying to bring a chemical on the plane which is no...

Re: Mac M Daggerboard original dimensions?
Hi, I just measured my old daggerboard. It is 69.5 inches long. You could safely round that off to 70 inches as the daggerboard trunk is deeper than that. I used to have that dimension written down but can't find it.

Re: what do you use to remove black mold stains
Hi, the mold being on the outside, I'd recommend "wet and forget" from wetandforget.com We have it here in New Zealand too & it really is that easy. Spray it on the boat & let the rain do the rest over time.

Re: greasing bearings and alittle trickle of water came out
Agree with others here, replace the bearing(s) and seals especially as salt water is involved. Also, don't fit Chinese made bearings & seals unless there is no alternative.

Re: winches
I replaced the cr@p "Marelon" winches a couple of years ago with stainless Andersen ones. The best bit of Bling I ever fitted to my Mac & yes, I do actually use them!

Re: Macgregor 65/70 Discussion
There's a Mac 65 being advertised from New Zealand right now, I don't know if it's based here in NZ or somewhere else which is often the case.

Dear Sumner, I am so sorry to hear of Ruth's illness & passing. My deepest sympathies. I have been away from the MacGregor site for a while & have only just stumbled upon these messages, my apologies for the lateness. Like everyone else here, I have marvelled over Ruth's canvas work, indeed ...
