Re: Solar Panel at the Rear Mast Carrier
You might want to look at a mod that I posted 2009-12-02. I have a 135 watt panel that I mounted on my arch. I leave it up while towing as I use my panel to power my fridge and lights. I use my Mac as a RV trailer while on land. I made a removeable extension to mount the panel so I can raise my mast...

Re: What Kind of Bedding is Best/Easiest
We also have the Travelsak and love it. We sleep in the queen berth in our M. The factory foam was too thin for our taste and we were thinking about getting thicker and better foam. As a temporary fix I put our two camping Thermarest camping air mattresses under our factory cushions. We bought these...

Towing feedback after 6500 miles
In the last year and a half I have towed LaVida about 6500 miles during four trips. The first trip was about 450 miles from Marina del Rey in Los Angeles to Sacramento, CA. This was my first trip when I bought her in May 2009. The second big trip was from Sacramento to Anacortes, WA for a two week t...

Re: What is the best way to board a 26X from a Dinghy?
We use the Doyle Quick Step 2 portable ladder, West Marine part #2673820 . It is cheap, easy to store and my wife and I love it for getting into the dinghy and onto the dock.

Re: Towing an inflatable tender with a 26X
I tow my Aqumax inflatable at up to 20 mph behind my 26M. Here is a photo with me towing it. Maybe this will help some or at least give you some idea of what is possible.

Re: Double axle feedback
My original trailer came with a single torsion bar type axle without springs. I just added an second additional standard torsion bar axle. I didn't investigate the style you have described. It looks like it would be nice. Two things come to mind for a conversion of the original aluminum trailer on t...

Here are the pictures from my Mexico trip I think. I am still learning about photobucket and not quite sure if I am doing it right.

Re: Feedback Mexico Trip
We just moved this week and everything is in the packing void right now. I have some photos I will post as soon as I can find my new office under the boxes. Sold the house, rented another for transition period and then hitting the road with my 26M for extended traveling and adventures first of next ...

Re: Thinking of slipping Mac without bottom paint
Not sure this will add much to what already has been said but here is my experience on five weeks in the water in Baja Mexico this Spring. Before I took the boat down I cleaned and waxed the bottom with a good carnuba auto wax. After three weeks in the water I pulled it into 2-3 ft of water anchored...

Re: Double axle feedback
I also have not noticed any significant difference in backing or turning with the two axles. When you go over speed bumps of which there are many in Mexico make sure you take it slow over them with the two axle trailer because it will bump twice. So far I have not noticed any downside with my "...

Feedback Mexico Trip
I got back last week from my trip to Baja California. I pulled my 26M from Sacramento, CA to Loreto Mexico in Baja Sur a round trip of about 2500 miles. The total trip including driving lasted about six weeks. I posted the feedback on my upgrade to two axles on the Trailer section. I figure I will g...

Re: Double axle feedback
To answer a couple of questions about my trailer upgrade. I had it professionally converted by California Trailer Works in Sacramento ( http://www.dhmtrailers.com/online/home.php). They ordered the factory axle from the people who supply McGregor. They moved the original axle forward and installed t...

Double axle feedback
I upgraded my stock 26M trailer by adding a second axle. I felt it might be interesting to the group to give my impressions of the difference and why I did it. A little background first. I bought my 26M May of 2009 and picked it up in Los Angles at Marina del Rey and towed it home to Sacramento. The...
