Fried my Battery
Installed my two batteries today and accidentally crossed the + and - leads on one of them and got the big spark before I shut it down. Melted out the leads on the smaller wires and now nothing works. Does anyone know how to rectify this dumb move??

Interior Electric Problem
My second fuse panel with the cabin and sailing lights is not getting power. It looks as though the white wire that leads to the back became disconnected near the batteries. The set-up had a small plastic container with a fuse in it but the fuse is missing. Does anyone know what size fuse that requi...

Re: 26x Front stay length
Thanks for the ideas, I went with the larger self tapping screws and they tightened up. It held overnight and I'll test drive it next weekend.

Re: 26x Front stay length
It is a CDI and one of the screws that holds the u-bolt at the base of the furler came out and the hole is stripped.

26x Front stay length
My roller furler broke on my 2000x and I don't plan on replacing until spring. What is the length of the front stay that I need to install to hold up the mast while I powerboat for the rest of the season?

Re: Propeller Update
I found a local prop shop that I had previously not been aware of in the DC area. After going over my issue with the owner, he recommended a 13 1/4 X 17 prop. After the storm passes I will give it a try on Sunday.

Propeller Change
I have a Yamaha 70HP engine on my 26X with a 13" diameter 11 pitch propeller. I am currently running too high at 6500 rpm where the manual suggests 5800 rpm at WOT. I have tried a couple of online calculators and am getting quite a variety of options with the diameter staying relatively the sam...

Center Board Stuck Down
My center board will not go all the way up on my 26X. With about 3-4 inches of rope pull left, the center board appears to be hitting something that is preventing it from going all the way into the slot. I know it is not all the way up because at high speed the boat starts to "sail" and pu...

Re: Brand New 2001 26X
The cushions were ~$550 for three sitting units but I did not get the backrests. I have not measured the speed yet with a GPS because I left it at another house and won't have it back for about three weeks. Seat of the pants tells me that the top speed is 23-25 mph with a relatively lightly equipped...

Re: Brand New 2001 26X
I got the cushions from http://shop.macgregorowners.com/detail-meshcushions.htm?group=187. They are the sunsure fabric cover over the closed foam. They only list the 26M on the site but since they did mine, they have the 26X pattern so you would just need to contact them. The batteries are just the ...

Brand New 2001 26X
Spent alot of time and money in the off season fixing up the old 26x when I dediced to restore it rather than buying a new 26M. Replaced the 50HP Honda with a 70HP Yamaha, new main and jib, sail covers, closed cell cockpit cushions, rear gate valve, cleats, fuse box, batteries, interior rugs, bow li...

Gate Valve Replacement Update
Went down to the boat to replace the gate valve Sunday and found out the problem was much bigger than dried out gaskets. The top left screw hole had been stripped out and the poor seal was causing the ballast tank to fill up. I put the new one on I tried a larger screw and that did not work. I ultim...

Gate Valve Installation
Has anyone installed a new gate valve on their 26X. I assumed it was four screws and some 3M adhesive but when I just got a new one, it has four bolts with nuts installed on them.

How Much Negotiating Room in a New M
I have pretty much decided to upgrade my 2001 :macx: to a new :macm: in the spring. When I purchased the :macx: back in 2001, there were several potential buyers for the boat and thus no room for negotiating discounts as the dealer was selling everything in stock anad taking full price orders on upc...
