David,
I know it would be a heck of a road trip, but I just put my S.C. based X in the classifieds.

Frank, I don't see any yellowing, and its the top stripe not the black around the windows. The entire stripe is blistering. I was wondering if I should to go ahead and try to remove it entirely. Maybe then re-coating. The blisters pull right off but the area around them is still fixed tightly to the...

This does not look like it could be a wax. The pieces are just too thick and uniform. I wish I could post a picture, but alas, limited computer wiz. Edit Also, it is just on the top black stripe, not the bottom one or anywhere else on the boat. And, the top stripe is flaking its covering uniformly a...

Black Stripe on the X

My new to me 2002 X has 2 black stripes. The top stripe is splitting and flaking, the botton stripe is not. It is flaking off clear plastic like pieces. What is left is the black stripe with a nice finish. I tried flaking off some more, but its difficult to remove. Is this part of the finish that sh...

Billy, thanks for the reply. As for sailing or trailing part of the way, I plan to sail and return by trailer. Thanks for the NC site. I know they will be helpful as I've never explored north of the NC/SC line. Any other suggestions would be welcome.

Carolina Coast

I haven't see much about the Carolina coast on this site. I'm new to sailing and the Macgregor 26. Most of my "adventures" so for have been confined to the Winyah Bay area of SC, near Georgetown. But, we are ready to bust loose, so to speak. Not like Mad Max of course, but everything is re...

Rich, you took the family on a 4 day vacation for $350. I didn't think anybody could take a trip that cheap.

Thanks Moe, would you make a guess as to the miles per gallon at the 7.4 MPH you mentioned. I'm still waiting to take my first trip on the 26X and wondering how much fuel I would need if we could not sail.

Speaking of fuel economy, what is the best RPM for the best MPG? and about what would that MPG be? Mine is a Honda 50.

Leaks, where else does it collect?

I'm new to the site and the 26X. What I'm finding is water ( 2-3 quarts) in the bilge after a particularly hard rain. I'm not to concerned about the amount, but where it might collect other than where I'm looking. So far, I find it under the galley and under the table seat with the cooler. That seem...

Boat Heater

I'm thinking about using a Coleman SportCat, propane heater (with proper cabin venilation) to heat my MacGregor when we are awake. Asleep, we will only use body heat, as I want to wake up. Anybody got any thoughts on that heater? Its $40 at Home Depo.

Thanks for the link. I'm just learning how to navigate the site. I'll probably find a lot of good stuff there.

How to attach shelves?

Hi, I'm a brand new owner of a 2 year old 26X. Still trying to learn how to properly sail it, being a 40 year power boat vet. Back to my question. I want to put a shelf above the sink area. I'm looking for suggestions as to attaching it to the wall. Should it be drilled in, glued, or maybe attached ...
