Re: Gas Tank Expanding
It was pretty warm. Are we really supposed to leave the vent open during the summer? We were afraid to because of the vapors coming out. Also it has in big letters on it to Close Vent when not in use.

Gas Tank Expanding
We went to our boat last night only to find our Gas Tank was about 3 times it's normal size. Has anyone else had this problem?
After boating, we typically disconnet the line to the engine....then put the vent cap in the LOCK position. Are we doing something wrong??

Re: DFW sailors
Oh yeah, I would like to know all the details of what you did. I'm thinking of doing ours myself to save money. The local guy is quoting me 1800$ to paint the bottom. I just thought that was abit high.

Re: 172 hours and counting.. "The boat show dream"
I've never gone to a boat show with mainly sailboats. We just got back from one in our area and it was all motor boats. The closest one to us would be Miami...or Ft. Lauderdale. Do you get "good" deals at these shows or is it best to shop online?

Re: Making 26M a LiveAboard Boat
Yeah, good info thanks. One thing I didn't think about was having to improve / upgrade the trailer to handle the extra weight. Once again thanks...You are giving me a good list of items to think about.

Re: Making 26M a LiveAboard Boat
Yeah, we would be staying at a "full service" Marina. However, we still wanted a marine toilet installed and shower for those times you can't make it to the Marina's facility far far away...LOL.
Hmm, I'm starting to think this might be a bad idea for 1 year? LOL

Making 26M a LiveAboard Boat
Just wondering if the 26M is suited to be modified for Living Aboard for long periods of time? My job might take me to Daytona Beach area for 1 year and I thought I could modify the boat to be lived on for that period of time after reading everyone's modification posts. There would be 2 of us aboard...

Re: Everyone Insults the MacGregor
Thanks everyone for the sound advice. I did alot of research and it seems the rigging is set correctly for the Mac. 26M. I guess most of these guys never owned a Macgregor so they think it should be rigged like their Hunter. I did finally run into an X Macgregor owner and he said it was rigged corre...

Everyone Insults the MacGregor
Well, I'm a new owner of the 26M and have it docked in a slip. Every day I'm out working on the boat other sailors come by and pull on the rigging and keep saying I should change it, tighten it...redo the entire thing. Should I listen to these guys? Most of them have sailed for years but everyone of...

Well, we bought ours for 34K from Boating Atl. It has pretty much everything you'd need on it. Ican't imagine what the 54K boat has on it???

Re: Ballast Freezing While in Slip
Oh, we are in Nashville Tennessee. Winters get down in the low 20's sometimes, but not much below that temperature. We tried to empty the ballast however the boat doesn't respond well without the ballast tank full....

Ballast Freezing While in Slip
Just got our new 26M into a slip on a freshwater lake. I leave the Ballast full, but someone said I should empty it through the winter while it's docked? Is that true? The lake never freezes? I've just noticed it's very hard to handle when the ballast is empty; we even ran into the dock doing that l...
