Re: Would like to extend the life line stanchions, any ideas

I had success with welding on a ss uclamp after cutting of the threaded part. raised the bow line 6 inches without interfering with my roller furler. If I had it to do again I would buy a pair of ss hinged Jaw slides. This way you can reposition them higher or lower. Currently on sale on Ebay for $....

In past just leave 10 amp marine charger plugged to outside outlet 80% of the time when temp lower than freezing. With my adva...

Re: puzzled by wiring on Mac X

Puzzle solved! Simply ran a chase consisting of a plastic product called Wireguard purchased at Menards for $11.00. Its 1/2 inch round but has a flat side with glue strip. Ran chase from a oak cabinet that above sink straight across wall into 1/2 hole I drilled then fished wire up into breaker openi...

Re: puzzled by wiring on Mac X

Making some progress with wiring. ran pair of wires from breaker opening to the bow inside double wall for add on anchor light. But my real issue is the supply from battery hatch to the breaker located 2 feet above battery. What route does it take? I plan to use existing wire as a pull wire for 14 g...

puzzled by wiring on Mac X

I hope I explain this adequately: Am in process of upgrading some wiring in pedestal of the :macx: and adding anchor light. My first chore is to upgrade wire from battery to breaker. Why doesnt Mac have a pipe chase from battery up to breaker which is just above the battery. Why does one have to fis...

Re: what would you recommend as a Dinghy for my 99 26x

Try the Portabote. I have had a 12 ft and now have a 10 ft. Very stable as it has a small keel. Takes about 25-30 minutes to assemble, less with a little practice. The trick is to use a ratcheting cargo bar (40" to 70" to spread the gunnals to mount seats. Weighs approx 80 lbs & can be...

Re: Spreader Lights

Thanks for comments. The lights are totally encapsulated with vinyl, the lights are held in with a 4" O-ring which I removed but find it impossible to remove the bulb (wont unscrew nor can I pull out), Beffudled.

Spreader Lights

Does any of you Macmen have experience with a Victory brand of spreader lights. Recently acquired these on Ebay only to find, although they were new in a box, there are no wires nor any terminals to install wiring. Help!

Re: Cruising the great loop

Found Captain Bill's daily blogs very entertaining. Can anyone provide some details on his voyage? M or X?, Float plan? etc. Know of a sailor that made the Great Circle singlehandedly at the ripe age of 75. I wonder how old he was when he got back to port.

Re: Power Mast raising! YES!!

Had the same idea several years ago: fabricated the trailer to house that same HF winch powered by small battery or connect to tow car's electric trailer outlet. Never did try it out as winch stopped responding to remote, no warranty so put it aside and got on to next mod. Now it dawns on me: the ba...
