Thank you folks: I have just contacted Aurora Marine and ordered their Sure-Step stuff. I also purchased the two cleaners they recommend. I will give this a shot, and report back as soon as I can evaluate the performance of these materials. I still find it fascinating that info about the maintenance...

Care of non-skid deck surface

I have a 2002 26X, which I purchased new. In getting ready for the boating season I usually wash and wax the hull and other "not-walked-on" surfaces of the boat. I was told to never wax the non-skid part of the deck and cockpit since these surfaces would then become slippery and unsafe. Th...

Jiffy Reefing

Thanks for the responses and suggestions. Jacklines are probably the most "professional" way of dealing with this problem. However, I have found a cheap and dirty way of dealing with it. I have two cleats on my mast, just above the gate where the sail slides fall out of the track. What I d...

Jiffy Reefing

I sail a 26X, and I have sail slides on my mainsail. I use a track stop to keep the sail slides from falling out of the sail track on the mast, when I drop the mainsail under normal conditions. However, when I want to reef the mainsail, I need to attach the reef tack to the gooseneck. To accomplish ...

Weighted Keel

Thank you for the ref to Eric's Mod. The mod sounds pretty extensive, and I'm not convinced that it's necessary to re-route the centerboard wire back from it's original position. If the weight of the ceterboard is "too great" to lift manually, then purchase can be gained by block and tackl...

Weighted Keel

I sail a 26X. I find the "sudden heeling" and rounding to weather somewhat disconcerting. I would dearly love to weight the ceterboard with the hope that it would improve sudden gust and strong wind performance. Has anybody done this, what does the Mod look like, and, most importantly, how...
