Thnak OP. This is a very informative and timely discussion. I have been tying my docklines and they look like many of the one you've called out. Even though I always go around the far horn, I still get a locking line condition because I tend to make three full turns, not just two (as he does here at...
https://en.meming.world/images/en/thumb/1/17/Monkey_Puppet.jpg/300px-Monkey_Puppet.jpg Those look a lot like my knots. I do go around the cleat once first, and then about three over-unders. And hten I'ce still got about a yard left. Should I up my dockline game'? Show me how to properly tie off to ...
I predict you are about to receive lots of advice on THE wax to use. Wax is a topic this forum loves to wax on. :) I want to be convinced it's not a bear of a job that will suck out my soul. By the way, posting a photo would help in identifying the product. Was deliberate. *I* don't know what the p...
Sorry, I should clarify: Of course I will have to powerwash the hull clean. I'll use Spray Nine. I just don't know if I'm up to doing all that buffing. Kinda arm-breaking, is it not? I actually bought a used buffer at a garage sake for when I planned to wax my boat but that hasn't happened yet. What...
I was complaining to a fellow boater about having to do all the buffing and he suggested this spray-on, buffless wax. It looks like he was talking about Meguiars.
Anyone had any experience with this? is it a good substitute?
The situation is this, I can't seem to find a way of keeping the boat going in a straight line without constant feedback from the wheel. The boat always seems to want to turn to port I find that, prop walk aside, she wanders all over the course - port and starboard alike. I fear for the nerves of o...
I personally would never make such a purchase sight unseen. A trustworthy surveyor is essential, but I would not trust them alone. They focus on seaworthiness, which may not include things you will notice. (What if it just smells?) You just can't know without seeing it with your own eyes. And survey...
I went out today. Kept it under 5 knots. Zero sign of oil leak, zero sign of oil smudge under exhaust. :) (Did collect about 600 pounds of seaweed on my blades in the lagoon. Boat ground to a complete halt a dozen feet from dock. Zero steerage, zero motion. In fact, I started drifting sideways, pull...
The part you have marked is an exhaust port. You should not have oil in the exhaust at all so something is wrong. Good to know. Most of the exhaust comes out through the center of the hub so anything you see on the upper port should also be happening under water. Can you see or feel any oil inside ...
Still no clues. I took it out again on the weekend. Still makes the noise. I ran it up to full power for a nautical mile or so. Hit 10knots with two of us. (Maybe time to clean the hull) When I was putting her to bed, I saw oil/fuel slick around the stern and an inspection revealed oil smeared under...
