Re: Blue Water Yachts Full Enclosure for the 26X

It passes behind. I love mine. Here are a couple pictures of my setup of the BWY kind, not great but you may find them useful: https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-D7J9olzTuiY/TcrJtcMG0JI/AAAAAAAAC5Q/HWj7vtBje0s/s640/IMG_2930.JPG https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-OQgqzP49xrA/TcrEuFmDbgI/AAAAAAAAC3o/R...

Re: Use a Spinnaker Sock??

I have posted a few vids before, that do not show the tack close up. At this time I was just starting out, not really knowing what I was doing, but you can see the substantial side load "in action":

Re: Tohatsu 70hp Engine Swap

Great work! I have been toying with the idea of a similar upgrade from my 50 HP Tohatsu, mainly what bothers me is the exhaust fumes coming over into the cockpit nearly at all times. Annoying! Plus the kids would prolly enjoy tubing a lot more with a larger engine. I am keeping my eyes open for a 90...

Re: Use a Spinnaker Sock??

Hello, I have to agree with Windchime. Not an engineer here, just "experienced" :( My tang bent quite a bit under the sideloads of my asymmetrical in one heavy air occasion. My soultion was to attach a block above the block of the forward hole of the tang on the pushpit and this keeps the ...

Re: 2001 GMC SAFARI van struggling after long haul

Where did the extra $300 dollars go? You indicated $700+change for the distributor, trans cooler, and labor. I think it was all labor costs with the addition of the transmission cooler. I am not sure whether they used GM partsor aftrmarket, I guess I could call to find out. The van runs better, but...

Would an S fit on an X trailer?

Would a 26S model fit on an 2000 X trailer? Any major mods required that you guys can think of?

Thanks!

Too late, the transmission cooler is on now and I am one boat buck lighter.... :x Will take it to the hitch shop next week for a checkup.

Re: 2001 GMC SAFARI van struggling after long haul

Coolant has been recently (as in past year) drained/changed. Van has over 250 thousand kms on it. I will mention the cooling system checkup to the mechanic. Will reconsider exchanging the hitch and radiator. Thanks.

Re: 2001 GMC SAFARI van struggling after long haul

I just learned of this when I had my Airshocks installed by the hitch guys recently. Four large bolts hold it in place. I don't know what to do about it, it looks and feels solid. Why fix something that is not broken... I am really not sure what to do about it.

Re: 2001 GMC SAFARI van struggling after long haul

This just in: It was a faulty electronic distributor, causing misfire, rough idle and engine oveheat. The lack of transmission cooler probably also contributed to the engine overheat. Both being rectified today for a meager 700$ plus change... :) :o :(

Thanks for your valuable inputs!

Re: 2001 GMC SAFARI van struggling after long haul

Just took it to the mechanic. No word form him yet. He said that he thinks a 4WD Safari may have already come with a transmission cooler but he will check. I am almost certain I don't have a towing package, rather a home made hitch only. Will keep you guys posted. Thanks.

Re: 2001 GMC SAFARI van struggling after long haul

Thanks for all your input. I think the coolant leak due to blown gasket makes the most sense as the coolant got really hot on the first long uphill (before I turned the heat on).
I will take it to a mechanic.

Fair winds and no leaks to you! :P

Re: BF50 max speed 9MPH no matter what

I can't really get above 10 mph with my 2000 2 stroke Nissan either, no matter the amount of load :( :? . I think its got the stock prop on. I just learned to live with it.

2001 GMC SAFARI van struggling after long haul

I have recently towed my 26X (1890 kg with trailer) with my 2001 GMC Safari van 4WD (4400 LBS towing capacity) to Vancouver over the Coquihalla pass (which has some pretty steep spots) where I got a bit lost in a very steep subdivision of Van city driving in low gear for quite a long time up and dow...
