"i wouldn't call it a sailing venue...I live on Saluda lake. Not the best lake for sailing but it's pretty good for fishing, kayaking. Not as many PWC's as some of larger lakes here in the upstate (hartwell, keowee). I personally prefer to be sailing Hartwell. I'm looking forward to one day get...

Re: What do you torque lugs to

Guys, If you want to use an impact wrench to tighten lug nuts, at least get the proper torque stick for your application, then you don't have to use a torque wrench. They aren't all that expensive and they do a good job.

Re: Tip of the day ...Post yours

Retire ASAP; you can always make more money, but your time on earth is finite. I'm serious :!: Yeah well I waited and one week after I retired I had a stroke, no cruising last summer and it looks like no cruising this summer. Take good care of yourselves and visit your doctor, because in a flash it ...

Re: Thinking Seriously About Doing the Great Loop

anyone that is thinking about doing the loop in a sailbot should read about this trip http://pogopelli.blogspot.com/2006_10_01_archive.html it's not a mac, but I think it's a worthwhile read. The way the blog is laid out is kind of confusing at first, but you'll understand it after a few pages. what...

Re: Time to sell my Mac...looking for tips/advice

Jim, Sorry to hear that you are selling your Mac,now that I'm Macless I'm looking again, when I sold my :macx: I listed on boattrader.com in a free ad, graiglist, and a couple of other places. By far I got the best response was from boattrader. It was finally sold to someone that saw it on boattrade...

Re: Centerboard Pivot Point Measurements

Erik, Just call Bill at MacGregor and he will e-mail or FAX a C/B drawing to you. I called him when I had to repair the C/B on my '99 X and he had it to me in about 15-20 minutes. The drawing looked like the original production drawing. I'd send it to you, but it went with the boat when I sold it la...

Re: Question about selling a Mac

Since I was the OP, I thought maybe I should update what ultimately happened. After a series of "tire kickers" called about my boat, I went with the $100.00 demo sail and that weeded out those that were not serious. I had about eight interested parties that came and viewed the boat and thr...

Re: Interesting Mac magazine article

Anyone planning on doing the Great Loop should spend some time reading this blog about some folks that did it on 23' sailboat. The blog is arranged kind of backwards, but it is a very interesting read. I found it about a year ago and spent an afternoon reading it, from beginning to end. After readin...

Re: The Bomb exploded on my Motor (a bit long)

Leon, None of the proposed "solutions" takes you into consideration, they are all basically working in the other party's favor, and at this point the other party is not your friend. Some variation of number 4 is the only solution that I would consider and even then I would have all the fin...

Re: DUAL AXLE TRAILERS

Thanks everyone for your replies. I do agree, brakes on both axles would be best (overkill for 3000lbs though), but the initial cost and additional maintenance are big negatives. My boat will be kept at a slip, so I only need to go about 40 miles, twice a year. It looks like we're split 50-50 on wh...

It's always the front axle. If you can afford it, add brakes to both axles.
