Re: 26M Zoom Zoom

Very cool - so a bunch of questions if you don't mind
1) Did you have to modify the transom to take the extra power of the outboard
2) What is approx fuel consumption at 4000 rpm and 22 knots
3) Notice you have an autopilot - is it any good and what is it

Re: Water storage choices

Hi, A tip is to look at camping suppliers - much cheaper than marine suppliers I bought 2 x 25 litre water containers, when one is empty I swap to the other one (£8 each) . They fit under the V berth - could easily store more A submersible 12v pump (£9) 7m of food grade water pipe (about £3) A chrom...

Re: Difficulty tacking

Try it with the engine tilted up.

I find our boat difficult to tack in light airs with the engine down and in the water but much easier with the engine up. I was taught the hard over approach mentioned previously also and find this works with our boat.

Cheers

Glad to hear that you and the boat easily handled that wind. Just checked Bramblemet shows 34 knt winds - looks like you need to get your windex checked as well :?

I would put anti foul paint on as soon as possible. Last year I left my boat in Poole harbour (pre-mac) for about 3 months and some of the bottom paint had rubbed off at the stern. When I took the boat out to clean it up it took me about 4 hours of hard scrubbing to get all the beasties off.

For sale on macgregorowners website (I would post a web link and picture but can not as i don't have enough posts). :( Claims at least a 30% fuel reduction :) Any...

Fixing Rope Clutches to the Cabin Roof

Hi, I intend to lead all halyards aft into the cockpit which will mean putting rope clutches on the cabin roof. Is the fibreglass thick enough to use self tapping screws or do I need to use nuts, bolts and backing washers ? Any one else done this ? If I need to drill holes for bolts, presumably I al...

If your mainsail has a bolt rope invest in a Spinlock mainsail pre-feeder. I bought one a few weeks ago and it makes a huge difference, only takes a few seconds to get the sail up and less opportunity to fall off the cabin roof into the wet stuff.

Minimum water for a controllable Mac

Hi Any thoughts on the minimum water depth required to be able to control the MAC 26M. I was going to practice in some open water next time out, but thought I would ask wiser and more experienced Mac owners as well. My Marina dock dries out at low Spring tides. I have had my Mac for 2 months now and...
