I believe I used the negative post of the battery for the grounding plate, it is the only thing on a fiberglass glass boat that is grounded.
The flluxgate compass I mounted under the forward dinette seat as close to the center board as possible.

Re: Mac 25 spinnaker on a 26m
I owned a Mac 25 and installed a spinnaker from a Mac X on it. Later, when I sold the boat and bought a Mac 26 M I kept the spinnaker for the new boat. Only trouble you might have is how high above the fore-stay to attach the spinnaker hound. About 12 inches is my humble opinion. I think the blue, d...

Bubba just sold his boat to a couple in BC.
You just bought a 26M that was loaded with many extras.
Kinda sounds like Bubba's boat "Inspiration".
Could this be true?

Re: SAYING GOOD BY AND HAPPY SAILING
Bubba, \ Haven't heard from you since I visited you and your wife on your new boat at Clover Island. I"m impressed! :D :D Congrats on the quick sale of your Mac 26 M . Hope to take up your offer to crew with you when needed. Also if you need to borrow a trailer-able to go back to those northern...

Re: A couple of "firsts" for me
Jim, Congratulations on your firsts. I am reminded of the first night I spent at anchor in my Mac 25. I can still remember like it was yesterday. The wind was starting to pick up and we had trouble with the roller-furler getting tangled up. Some one had to go up to the bow and roll the sail in by ha...

Chinook The trip up the Snake is on my bucket list. I have gone as far as the Granite Dam on different trips. I have on my desk top a picture of my boat beached on a shore of the Snake river that has no cars, no trains, no houses, no trees, no boats, just me and my boat. http://i286.photobucket.com/...

Re: König back in the water...
After just about two months waiting on back order, the thermostat gasket arrived and the dealer was able to install the new thermostat. He said the old thermostat was corroded possibly due to some stay electrical current, and that the new thermostat was different then the old one as it was insulated...

Re: Change Daggerboard for a weighted one 26M
I broke my first dagger board hitting a rock while sailing. The stock dagger board is hollow and very flimsy, but I have been told that it is designed to break so as not to damage the boat hull. My second dagger board was also damaged but I repaired it and filled the upper part where it rests agains...

Re: König back in the water...
Now I'm starting to get pi$$ off. Just heard from the dealer today that the thermostat gasket won't be available till Oct 15th! They told me that the Mercury manufactures have back ordered 6000 gaskets, of which 1000 are already ordered for motor owners also with thermostat problems. Sounds to me li...

Re: König back in the water...
Glad to hear your motor is fixed. I'm still waiting for the dealer to get the parts. Last I heard the thermostat had arrived but the gasket was still on back order. The boat has been stored in his yard with the mast up and ready to re-launch, since the last time I posted this site, about two or thre...

Bubba.
So what happened to your Mac 26 M? Did you sell her even having gotten new mainsail or did you trade her in on the new boat?
When is the re naming party and how are you getting the boat from California to Washington?

Re: König back in the water...
C 130 Took my boat to the Marina that I got the motor from and we took it for a short test sail, warning horn came on right away. They checked the temp with a hand held sensor and got readings of 206 degrees at the top of the motor. Overheating for sure even though the water coming out of the pee ho...

Re: New Mac Owner with questions
Like K9campers I have replaced the bolts for the mast and mast raising system with clevis pins. As well as the supports for the the rudders and the connection for the boom to the mast and any other connections. No need to carry a wrench when my fingers can do the job, makes launching and pulling the...

Re: König back in the water...
My Merc 50 has been giving off a warning alarm the last three or four times out. I have replaced the oil, oil filter, temp sensor, checked the battery terminals, and replaced the water impeller but the alarm stays on. I limped over to the marina where I got my motor and the guy who sold me the motor...

Re: Using the Bow rail as a Gin Pole
I owned a Mac 25 for 18 years before I bought my 26 M. My method of raising the mast consisted of attaching a 2 ton come-a-long to the spinacker pole attachment mid way up the mast and the other end tied to the bow pulpit. I would prop the mast up with the crutch as high as possible from the cockpit...
