Re: Soft Transom
Both the 26X and 26M (as well as nearly every other boat made) have a wood core in the center of the transom. On some X's we have seen softness caused by the glass coming unstuck from the plywood. The answer to your first question is, it depends on if the transom reinforcement wood is wet or dry. If...

Re: Rub Rail Replacement
The rub rail you got is absolutely identical in every way to what was on the boat from the factory. It seems softer for 2 reasons. 1) It isn't stretched tight like it is after installation 2) The old rub rail gets somewhat harder as it ages in the sun. There is only one source for this product in th...

Shipping to Canada.
Someone had a question on shipping cost to Canada, At BWY our typical ground shipping cost is about $30, obviously considerably more if you need express service.

Re: Replacement Sails
As many of you have noted, sail cloth weights are not ever exact to the published weights, but give a rough estimate of the actual weight. Cloth manufacturers have to differentiate between their various products in some way without getting so technical that it confuses people. It often happens that ...

Re: Replacement Sails
Sorry, I should add for clarity, what we refer to as HIgh Modulus 5 and 5.5 OZ are really 4.93 and 5.53, I guess rounding for simplicity actually caused more confusion than it eliminated! Also, many of you who have commented that Doyle sails that you have purchased from us over the years do not appe...

Re: Replacement Sails
Hi, this is Todd from Blue Water Yachts. I just wanted to give an update on our current sail offerings. Any of you who purchased sails from us in the last few years got either Doyle Offshore sails (made in Barbados) if you bought the basic factory type sails or Rolly Tasker sails for most of the upg...

Re: How much cable needed to replace standing rigging
80 feet would be safer to do both upper and lower shrouds. The headstay needs to be swaged, not nicopressed so you can't do it yourself. Both the headstay and the backstay are 1/8", although we do offer a heavy duty headstay that is 5/32, so you can go either way on that.

Re: BWYachts response times
I'm sorry we haven't gotten back to you. Cheryl and I have been out of the office for a few days and things are a little backed up. The stock factory jibs are in short supply right now, but we do have other options. They are a little more money, but much nicer sails. Please send us another email and...

BWY Stern Rail Seat installation
I just wanted to post a quick reply to a Mod page posted about an "easier" way to install the BWY stern rail seats. While we do use the Toggler blind nuts for a number of applications (always in stainless), and while I'm sure they can be used here, we do not consider them the best solution...

Re: MORE QUESTIONS ABOUT THE ETEC
As to reliability, the ETEC used to have a lot of problems, but the newer versions have been runing well. As to speed, like all builders, the Mac brochure speeds are for a bone stock, lightly loaded boat. The 23 mph they claim is not untrue, but not very likely in the real world, we all end up with ...

Re: squeak while motor is disconnected
Parafin wax on the rod works well. You may have to put it on a couple of times the first year but over time the glass gets saturated with the wax and it goes longer between waxing.

Re: Need advise on new 150 Genoa
5 Oz is as heavy as you want in a 150% Genoa if you ever sail in light wind. A heavier sail will not fill properly in lighter wind. The factory sail is 3.9 Oz, so 5 is already quite a bit tougher, more isn't always better.

Re: EC certificate of conformity
If your boat was not originaly equipped for shipment into an EU country, then it not only does not have a CE certificate of conformity, but it does not conform to the regulations and will not easily pass inspection. Sharp Marine does a significant amount of modifications to the boats to make them co...

Re: New Updated Web site
Thanks for the input! The accessories site is up and running now :) , however I just blew up the parts site :( , it should be back up by tomorrow. Once I fix it, the parts site works fine directly without Flash (it does need JAVA, but even apple runs JAVA). the direct link is http://bwyachts.com/BWY...

Re: broken mast
The factory does not have stock the masts for anything prior to the 26M any more, so your local dealer can only get you an M mast. Much of your hardware will not fit correctly, and it is significantly heavier. Blue Water Yachts is now the supplier for the original masts made with the factory tooling...
